Choosing your furniture
Before going out and buying your new furniture, do a little planning work.
Measure the room you are going to be furnishing, making sure that you include door positions, windows and any other features such as chimney breasts.
If you already have some items of furniture that will be staying then pencil in their position on your drawing.
Now you will be able to see how much space is left and how large new pieces of furniture can be.
When thinking about new furniture consider how it will work within your lifestyle, do you have children or pets, consider the finishes that will be the most suitable.

Furniture is a big investment, so try and choose items that will last for years to come, trendy fashion items may look good now, but will they become dated and unfashionable in the future?
When shopping for furniture check the quality of the items, are they solidly built, is the upholstery to a high standard, is it comfortable to use?
If your new pieces of furniture are going to be combined with current pieces, check that the style and colours will be complimentary and not cause a clash.
Before you take delivery of your new items, take time to clear the room and dispose of any unwanted items of furniture responsibly.
Many charitable organisations will come and take away items, that can be used by less fortunate people, or sold on at charity shops to help raise
much needed funds.
Recycling of furniture in this way is much better for the environment as valuable space is not used such as landfill.
