Choosing locksmiths
Obviously the question of security is an issue when trying to choose a locksmith, one way to check this is to ask which organisations the locksmith
belongs to.
The main organisations are the Institute of Certified Locksmiths (ICL) and the Master
Locksmith Association (MLA), both of these organisations police check their members.

Some locksmiths rely on drilling out your lock, destructive entry, as their
standard method, this means that you will also need to buy a complete new lock from them.
There are non destructive methods such as picking the
lock that a professionally trained locksmith should be able to provide, why pay out for a complete new lock and potential damage to your door, when it is unnecessary.
In some cases locks may need to be drilled if they have become faulty or damaged but this can not be helped and should be a last resort.
