Buying used cars.

When looking at used cars with a view to buying consider the following points:

Interior

Check the controls and switches, do they all work properly?
Switch on and check all of the lights, headlights, side lights, indicators etc.
Check that the seats and carpets are dry, if not this could be the indication of a leak.

Bodywork

Check the bodywork for dents, scratches and rust.
Do not view the vehicle in the dark or when it is wet, this could hide any problem areas.
Look along the sides of the vehicle and look for dents.
Check for signs of repair work, this could be indicated by additional layers of paint, mismatched coloured paintwork or overspray on the paintwork.
In the boot and bonnet ensure that all metalwork is in good condition, check for any signs of buckling or repair work, this could be the result of an accident.
